The episode begins with an argument between Sarissa and Elfaria. Sarissa urges Elfaria to review the candidates recommended by their scouts, she mention that they’ve had a good harvest this year. She shows Elfaria one of the candidates, Julius Reinberg, and suggests that he seems like an excellent fit for the Ice Faction and might be suited to become her successor.
Meanwhile, the Crown Attack has reached its final stage. Whoever claims the crown on the podium will earn the glory. At this point, the three members of Squad 9 are facing off against Will. Julius uses a smokescreen to confuse Will, but Will can sense their magic within it. Hearing footsteps, Will suspects they are trying to surround him.
Despite his vision being blocked, he can detect where their spells originate. He dodges all three attacks and locates their positions. However, another attack comes his way, which he also evades, only to see five Julius clones appear. Will is then caught in a sudden explosion from Julius, resulting in him being frozen. This spell is a secret magic invented by the prodigy Elfaria, known as El Glace Frosse. Elfaria, known for her creation of twelve original spells, has a serious art named after her in recognition of this achievement, and Julius is using one of the spells from that series, El One: Ars Weiss, a clone spell that creates living ice sculptures of the caster.
Will asks Julius how he learned to use Elfaria’s spell. Julius replies that he mastered the spell on his own, feeling that he has reached the level of Magia Vender. Will breaks the ice and attacks Julius. But Julius can move his clones at will and have them cast spells as well. He uses Remote Circle to create a cage, trapping Will inside. This barrier is anchored by his clones. Julius then uses Xelunea Caulis to summon a large chunk of ice above Will’s head, which he drops on him. Julius begins to proclaim that he will be the successor to Lady Elfaria.
However, Will breaks free from the trap and comments that he tends to get worked up when it comes to Elfaria. Julius attacks again, but Will dodges and gets behind Julius’s two teammates, pointing out that his Ars Weiss isn’t perfect. Will then knocks out Julius’s two teammates, causing Julius’s clones to fall apart. Will tells Julius that his teammates were helping him control the clones and cast Elfaria’s spell momentarily. He also notes that Julius is not yet close to Elfaria’s level. Julius becomes enraged upon hearing this.
On the other side, Elfaria responds to Sarissa that if Julius is as good as the reports suggest, he might indeed be able to become her successor. However, she emphasizes that what she truly desires by her side isn’t a successor, but a sword.
While Will further criticizes Julius, explaining that unlike autonomous guardians, Ars Weiss is controlled entirely by the caster. He reiterates that Julius’s teammates were helping him control his clones, which infuriates Julius even more. Julius begins attacking again, but Will dodges every attack. Julius realizes he isn’t skilled enough to control four clones at once, but he continues to attack Will with them. Julius knows that without his teammates’ support, this spell will drain him quickly, but he believes Will will never figure out who the real Julius is.
However, Will identifies the real Julius. Julius, shocked, asks how Will knew. Will explains that the average body temperature of an Ars Weiss clone is the exact opposite of the caster’s, around minus 36 or 37 degrees. Depending on how it’s cast, it can be even lower. If the caster isn’t in complete control, the cold seeps out of the clones, just like the Frost Walkers, causing ice crystals to form around their feet. Julius realizes that Will is right.
Julius asks Will how he knows so much about these spells. Will reveals that Elfaria was his childhood friend. They were both abandoned and grew up in the same orphanage, so he knows a lot about Elfaria’s magic. He admits that he admired her, which is why he studied her magic so thoroughly, learning all its strengths and weaknesses. Julius, in disbelief, yells that it’s impossible, claiming that this is Albis Vina’s Magia Vender’s secret magic and accusing Will of mocking it. Julius attacks with ice again, but Will easily breaks it.
Will states that no mage has ever been able to use Elfaria’s magic before and reveals that Ars Weiss is a spell Elfaria created when she was just two years old. Julius is shocked to hear this. Will adds that because of this, the spell isn’t perfect and can be beaten. He warns Julius that using it to boast would make him nothing more than a naked king. Julius becomes even more frustrated and creates eight clones of himself. He attacks Will again, but Will breaks through the clones, lands a punch on Julius’s face, and wins the battle!
However, Wignall Lindor manages to grab the crown, making Squad 12, led by Wignall Lindor, the winner of the Crown Attack. Colette runs towards Will, and Will apologizes to her for losing the crown, but he’s happy that he was able to fulfill his promise.
Review
This episode of Wistoria: Wand and Sword was full of action and big moments. The fight between Will and Julius was exciting, especially when Julius used Elfaria’s spell, Ars Weiss. But even though Julius was confident, it was clear he was not on Elfaria’s level yet. In this battle, Will was one step ahead of Julius. The ending, with Wignall Lindor grabbing the crown, was a surprise but made sense. Overall, this episode was all about action, character moments, and a surprising finish, making it one of the best so far.
