My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 Review

Plot and Storyline

It’s a love story where it follows the daily life of Akane Kinoshita, who’s a college student. She got dumped by her bf and even after that she continues to play the game she played with her bf. And there a twist comes, and out of it comes the emotionless and handsome Akito Yamada who’s a high schooler.

The plot goes by after getting heartbroken. Akane still plays the game that reminds her of him but she says she’s going to make him regret his decision. right after that, she meets with an awkward but handsome kid who might just solve all of the problems she has and that’s how it progresses.

Anime and Art Style

The animation was said to be stunning by its fans when I started watching it. And let me tell you, they aren’t bluffing. It’s actually good. how it mixes with the story and makes good, sweet, funny, and heartwarming moments is actually quite something to witness. You can’t shrivel away from it anyhow.

The art style is constantly being changed, and every fan is hyped about it. as it starts with decent quality but later on it just keeps on improving which keeps the viewer enthralled.

Characters

The character interactions are pretty fun to see. akane and Yamada is the main characters and then there’s Sasaki, then his little sister who supports the main characters, the sharp and sarcastic Maeda is there too, lastly, Akito’s classmate who continually gets closer to him but fears falling for him, which she falls afterward and gets rejected the same.

The characters are fun and interesting. And they’ll surely keep you hooked. The random drama, the expected outcome even then seeing it with your own eyes, the fun they have, the interactions they have. The characters are quite lively I must say.

Themes

It’s a shoujo-josei manga adaptation series. So the dramas are good. and it’s for both male and female genres. So, almost like a unisex anime. Anyway, enough banter. The themes are just comedy that leads to romance, playing games after losing a boyfriend which was pretty obvious, playing games to fall for someone, and the constant drama over a single person, who’s too uncaring. The themes are just so funny, interesting, and moving at the same time, which is even more unconvincing until you see it.

Overall impression

The series is not so bad and if you wanna waste your time away or see something with surface-level drama with somewhat deep emotions, go for it.

The art style and the soundtracks make a good part of it. You’ll have fun along the way that’s for sure. It hasn’t disappointed me in any way, but it’s not really for those deep anime watchers who love some meaning shoved into the series which eventually makes the anime kinda dark. Anyway, it’s light, it’s dramatic, it’s fun, and it’s enjoyable. What else do you need? Grab popcorn for the drama perhaps if you relate you’ll have more fun.
