Failure Frame Episode 4 Recap and Review

In this episode, we see Touka arrive in a city called Milz. He’s looking for monster materials in a dungeon there, but he takes his time to check out the town first. Touka is smart and plans things out carefully.

While eating at a local pub, Touka overhears some important information that helps us understand more about the world in the story. He takes some of his leftover food to Pigimaru and tries to figure out who can read the book of forbidden spells. This leads him to seek the forbidden witch in the demon zone. He also creates a strengthening agent using the Skeleton King’s bone meal from the historic ruins of Mills to enhance Pigimaru’s abilities.

Next, we meet Creed Harclay, Marquis of Harclay, from a renowned family. A new layer has been discovered at the Mills ruins, so he gathers everyone to search for it. He offers a reward of 300 gold coins for those who obtain the Cup of the Dragon Eye, a treasure hidden somewhere in the ruins. Touka joins the registration process.

We then see the girl character from an earlier episode, now known as Seras Ashrain, who turns out to be a former knight with a bounty on her head. She is an elf but is pretending to be a normal person. But A man, who knows her, tries to expose her by revealing her ear in front of everyone, but Seras has changed into a human form, so her ear appears normal. And she introduce her name as Mist Barkas.

Later, That man plans with others to kill Seras out of anger, but Touka overhears everything and kills them. Touka then finds the Cup of the Dragon Eye before anyone else. Seras arrives to find the cup but sees that Touka already has it. Touka gives it to Seras, who wants to offer something in return, but Touka refuses. She insists she doesn’t want to take something for free, so he tells her he doesn’t want the cup but wants her help in finding the demon. Seras agrees to escort him.

Touka and Seras end up working together in the dungeon, and they might become friends and allies in the future. They discuss how golden-eyed monsters are connected to the demon king, which makes Touka think about one of his classmates. Then Seras meets Pigimaru. Seeing that she looks tired and has dark circles, Touka uses his power to make her sleep. When she falls asleep, her ears turn back to their original form, revealing that she is indeed an elf, the former knight leader of the holy kingdom of Neia, Seras Ashrain.

Review

This episode doesn’t have much action and was not particularly exciting, but it wasn’t bad either. It felt a bit slower compared to the previous three episodes. Also, they are still using CGI animation sometimes, which looks bad. But even though this episode doesn’t have any actions we get to know about the other characters perfectly. So I can say it’s worth to watch.
