Buddy Daddies is an action-comedy animated by P.A. Works and produced by Aniplex and Nitroplus. The show is directed by Yoshiyuki Asai. As you may have guessed from the title, it’s about two buddies who are also daddies.
The story follows two assassin partners, Kazuki Kurusu and Rei Suwa. Both had a tragic past story, and they lived comfortably enough until a cute little girl, Miri, bumped into them. After they kill her father on a mission, they decide to adopt her. Because she knows that they are assassins, so they can’t hand her over to the police. And as she would stick around their butt all the time, they had to take her with them on their missions. Thus, new dads who are raising an energetic child are far more complicated than any of their missions. To avoid spoiling the story, the real story begins from here.
When it premiered, many anime fans assumed it would be a gay “Spy x Family.” Although it’s very different from that series, both still have some similarities. Comparing this series to Spy x Family would be a mistake because it aims for a more serious story but has some goofy and comical moments, which should be the only thing similar to that series. I started watching this anime when I finished Spy x Family and expected it to be an inspired story, but it completely blew my mind when I watched Buddie Daddies. It has its own unique style, which keeps the audience entertained.
This anime has a lot of wholesome and heartwarming moments that’ll make you continue watching this series till the end. If you’re feeling down then this anime will surely light up your mood. The art and the animation is pretty good and you could really see the character development between all the characters. Plus it is a family friendly anime, even the kids are allowed to watch it.
If you’re a person who has been watching a particular type of anime for too long, like action, mystery, murder, and thrill. You should watch this anime to refresh your mind a little. The anime is mainly based on the maker’s self struggles through tears and joy of raising their kids, balancing professional life and personal life. So, some of you might find this relatable or even very meaningful.
Overall, I loved this anime, and I’m not even exaggerating it. It has incredible plots and an awesome story. The animation is very bright and colorful, which creates a good and playful environment. Even though some found this series annoying due to Miri’s behavior, that is how realistic kids are. Every aspect of the anime was enjoyable and it was like an emotional rollercoaster. The end of the series made me sad cause there are only 12 episodes, and I need season 2 of this series ASAP. You should definitely give it a try, and this will not get you bored, I assure you. This anime is highly recommended, so don’t miss out on this one.
