Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc Episode 8: Full Review

I just finished watching the last episode of Demon Slayer’s Hashira Training Arc, and it’s insane.

It first shows deep into the Ubuyashiki family’s. I never really understood why they were so important before, but now I get it. These people are sacrificing everything to fight demons. They have a curse illness that’s slowly killing them, but they’re still out here leading the Demon Slayer Corps.

Then the scene when – all the Hashira show up at the Ubuyashiki place.  I got goosebumps. The animation team went all out on this scene. Each Hashira have their moment and it was epic. Gyomei Himejima with that massive flail of his was Insane. And Giyu Tomioka doing his water breathing was so cool. I’ve been waiting forever to see all of them together like this, and it did not disappoint.

But then, just when I thought things couldn’t get more intense, Muzan freaking Kibutsuji shows up at the mansion. I was to stunt in this scene. That place is supposed to be super protected. For a second, I thought he was going to just wipe everyone out, and I was freaking out.

The whole time, I’m trying to figure out what Muzan’s plan is. Is he really that desperate that he’d attack the Demon Slayer HQ head-on? Or is there something else he is plotting? The show’s got me tensed now, I’m overthinking everything!

And they kept dropping these hints about some big plan involving Ubuyashiki, doctor Tamayo, and Gyomei. I have a million theories, but I have to wait and see.

The ending, I’m still not over it. When Muzan smiled and suddenly everything went all warped and weird, I literally yelled at the screen. What was that? Did Muzan just pull out some new power we’ve never seen before? Or did something go wrong with whatever plan Ubuyashiki had? This type of question is going around my head!

This episode was so good from start to finish. The pacing was insane – it felt like it was over in like five minutes, but so much happened. The animation was gorgeous as always, Ufotable never disappoints, and the way they balanced the emotional stuff with the action and suspense was just perfect.

I might have to rewatch this episode a couple of times before then, just to make sure I didn’t miss anything important.
