I Parry Everything Anime is way better than I expected. The show is about Noor, who can parry literally anything, and it’s also actually funny.
In the first episode, we meet Noir. He’s just a normal person, except he can deflect anything that comes at him. The funny part is he doesn’t even realize how crazy his power is. There’s a scene where he thinks he’s just shooing away an annoying cow, but it turns out to be this massive, deadly monster. Noor just casually swats it away without realizing he just saved an entire village. It’s hilarious and sets the tone for the kind of humor we can expect.
In the second episode, Noor gets called to the royal palace because of his accidental heroics. But he has no idea what’s going on, which leads to some funny situations. There’s also some hints about the kingdom’s history that make it seem like there might be more to the story than just jokes.
What I really like about this show is how it mixes humor with action. It’s silly, but when the fight scenes happen, they’re actually pretty cool. Noor’s parrying ability makes for some interesting battles, and you never know what’s going to happen next.
The characters are likable enough to carry the show forward. We meet Lynne, a strong-willed princess with a surprising amount of depth. Ines is the stoic and capable knight who seems to be the only one who can keep Noir somewhat grounded. King Clays is the well-meaning but somewhat clueless ruler, while Rein is his energetic and impulsive younger brother. Gilbert, the kingdom’s wise old advisor, provides a touch of experience and wisdom.
If they can keep up this balance of comedy and action, I think it could turn out to be a pretty good show.
